August 22, 2013 9/11 Guantanamo pretrial hearings sketches
Today I spent the whole day drawing from the viewing gallery in the back of the court. My focus in the afternoon was to get the perspective of the victim family members who are watching the proceedings.
Family members speak with media in Guantanamo
Last night family members of 9/11 victims spoke with us. I've sketched them with their own quotes as they told their stories.

August 19, 2013 Guantanamo- 9/11 pretrial hearings AUG 19-23
Today was the first day of a week of continuing 9/11 pretrial hearings. All the accused are compelled to attend first day, with the option to sit out the following days. At issue today was one detainee's illness and discomfort at having to be present during the hearings. Towards the end of the day, a brief closed session was held. We return first thing tomorrow morning.
