50 years ago he had a dream

August 23, 2013 Guantanamo 9/11 pretrial sketches. Final for the week

Today no detainees chose to attend the proceedings. I sketched Brig. Gen. Mark Martins, arguing how 'torture' is defined in the commissions,  the defense table for KSM, and Maj. Jason Wright discussing ongoing email security issues.

August 22, 2013 9/11 Guantanamo pretrial hearings sketches

Today I spent the whole day drawing from the viewing gallery in the back of the court.  My focus in the afternoon was to get the perspective of the victim family members who are watching the proceedings.

Family members speak with media in Guantanamo

Last night family members of 9/11 victims spoke with us. I've sketched them with their own quotes as they told their stories.

August 20, 2013 Guantanamo- 9/11 pretrial sketches

One detainee, Ramzi bin al Shibh, was present for part of the day in today's pretrial hearings. In the afternoon he chose to leave court, defense then explaining why.
I was able to get a gallery sketch as well as the prosecution today.
