Today Google's search page opens with an homage to Grace Hopper, who invented COBAL as a way to 'talk' to computers. Code, in other words. She was a remarkable woman, and one that I had the honor of illustrating a book about back in the day.

Beautiful drawings. I think I just read somewhere that Grace Hopper initiated the idea of software "bugs" when she discovered a moth interfering with the electronics.
